  1. I disagree with you on the metal tubs thing in that they make everything stink. I’ll never go back to a stainless steel tub. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

  2. EVERYONE (here, and otherwise!) speaks very highly of Bosch.
I purchased one of the 800 series, and when I open the door after a cycle, the inside stinks! Everytime. And I don’t always wash stuff with garlic residue.
I’ve had several dishwashers over time, and never had this problem!
I recently read something that this is somewhat of a known issue with Bisch, related the the pump not draining completely. I ignore the golen rule of not rinsing – so doubtful this is causing the issue.
Plus, again, no problems, ever, with other brands.
Ant thoughts = suggestions before I swap this out, please?
    Thanks!

  3. Good and thorough advice, thank you. Concerning European brands, Neff is actually part of BSH/Bosch, Their machines are identical to Bosch with minor differences in features. Miele has taken a serious hit to their reputation due to outsourcing their production to Eastern Europe and cheapening their production gradually over the past 10 years. This is one of the many reasons that Miele has run into serious trouble, facing extensive layoffs in Germany. Other brands (especially Bosch/Siemens/Neff) are now offering similar or even better quality and features. There is just no point in spending double on a Miele than you would on a BSH product.

While reliability has gone downhill (with their legendary washing machines W1 being the worst offenders) their pricing of parts and repairs is absolutely outrageous. When our Miele dw quit after eight years they would charge 500€/550$ just for parts(PCB), and additional 350$ for labor plus 190€/210$ for diagnosis and travel costs – for a dishwasher that had cost 1350€/1500$ new. We went for a new Neff instead (700€).

I did some research on this and found out that Miele had McKinsey "optimize" their service operations. Their focus has shifted from doing repairs to selling extended warranties and accessories. And here’s the kicker: they would blow up cost estimates for repairs on purpose in order to upsell the customer to a discounted new unit. Instead of having the dw repaired for over 900€ we could have bought a new one from Miele for 10% below retail. This is nothing less than a racket. Will Miele be around in ten years? I doubt it. Miele products are defintely not worth the extra money anymore and people are noticing. Why spend 1600$ on a Miele washer or dishwasher when you could buy a TOL Bosch/Siemens/Neff for 900?

  4. Frigidaire plastic basin over here: there is a hole on the bottom from a warped heating element and it ruined my floor. When your first recommendation was to get metal, it didn’t take much more. I’ll go without a dishwasher for a bit until we can grab one.

  5. Look heres the end of day – 1 my wife wants a new one to "match the kitchen" dishwasher. 2 the dishwasher is the most expendable thing in the kitchen. downhill from there.

  6. Love your videos and Humor!!! Unloading the Records and paper plates was the best… That chat with the Wife on washing the dishes was pure win!! Thank you

  7. I don’t have a whole house surge protector but I sure bought one for the outlet in which my new clothes washer is plugged. There’s one for the microwave, too.

  8. My problem with Bosch is the company has made me gun-shy of their products. I purchased a Bosch washing machine thinking I was going to get that famous German engineering and build quality. What I got was a miserable ownership experience where every component and I do mean every component on the dishwasher failed throughout the 1 1/2 years I owned it. It was a frightful nightmare. So buying A Bosch dishwasher would make me a glutton for punishment. Some may think this is a one off problem but I have owned a new VW, major electrical and oil consumption problems, a Lilienthal wrist watch-failed within one year of ownership. German products are a BIG NOPE! Add to this; once the German product is out of warranty the cost to repair/parts is exorbitant.

  9. my GE profile circulation pump/motor went after about 30 runs … now it needs a new pump 350$ and 500$+ labor to fix it – might as well buy a new Kitchen Aid or Bosch… I’m disappointed … mad … disgusted …

  10. How about drawer style dishwashers or double drawer style? Looks like F&P are the only ones that make them anymore, but curious if they’re good because they look cool af

  11. I had a Kitchen Aid top of the line (over 1800.00) and had nothing but trouble over the 6 years I had it i replaced the heater, the detergent dispenser, the pump, t the filter, now the motor went, also had to replace parts of the upper rack that just fell apart. Not the performance I expected from Kitchen Aid top of the line i just purchased a new LG

  12. Great videos! I was wondering: you mentioned that it is a good idea to use a surge protector for your dishwasher? Is there a GFCI surge protector set up you recommend?

  13. OMG stop with the records in the top rack I had to rewind like 4 times to listen again because I couldn’t stop laughing πŸ˜†

  14. have a Kenmore elite that’s 22 years old, still cleaning fine, a couple labels on buttons came off but still works, wifey wants a new one, I’m sad sears no long around LOL

  15. So my Mom bought a dishwasher that vaguely looks like a metal Kitchenaid. But it doesn’t day Kitchenaid and has a weird black j like insignia on it. Does that mean it was privately labeled and thus a bad deal? The control board failed, so it seems like junk to me. We are having to get it replaced.

  16. Any recommendations for a heavy duty dishwasher that will last many years with basic maintenance that does not have any fancy smart features? I don’t want 20 settings, fancy displays, and internet connectivity. I just want something well built with a few basic settings. Something like whatever would have been top of the line back in the 90s.

  17. Our Bosch dishwasher purchased 7 years ago has had its front display fail, the start plastic button physically break and fill pump fail. I fixed those issues, but now the plastic that connects the buttons to control board has crumbled so buttons fell into the door. I have to use a piece of styrofoam to prop them up. The pump, etc, are working fine. My Bosch is kinda junk.

  18. I see hotpoint low on the list I was given a old but looks almost new hotpoint with the telescopic sprayer .do you think its worth installing or should I look for something else? I’ve never had a dishwasher

  19. My trusty and excellent cleaning 25-year old soil-sensing, food grinding Kenmore is dying unfortunately. What are my chances of finding a new dishwasher that will last that long? I have a feeling I know the answer sadly.

  20. I have had 2 Bosch dishwashers. No complaints, replaced the first one because we went with all stainless steel appliances. Sold the first and heard it is still going good. They are a very quiet dishwasher. I Have had the last one over 6 years. I am sold on the Bosch. I also had a Modern Maid and Maytag I really didn’t have any problem with them. They were just not as nice as the Bosch. They get old and we think we need to replace them

  21. I’m having a really hard time finding a dishwasher that will fit under my counter. I’m only 4’10” tall so my counters are 33” tall rather than 36”.

  22. im still rocking a whirlpool that was in my house in 2015 when i bought it.. the owners manual has a 1998 date on it and its still running strongish

  23. Your dishwasher looks modern compared to ours! Ours is very noisy but gets everything very clean! It is very old and very plastic! We bought a Bosch and took the noise one to the Dump even though it worked perfect! Too ugly!

  24. Thank you for these videos, they are very helpful. Speaking of helpful, let me say this to you: remote microphone. This will give you MUCH better audio quality than any built-in microphone will. Thanks again.
