I spent 1 year searching for a perfect mouse for Mac

The best mouse for Mac. MX Master 3S, the Apple Magic Mouse, a Razer mouse and other gaming mice with my Mac to try and find the best mouse for Mac. It had to be a Bluetooth mouse and have a short wireless dongle (preferably a USB-C dongle). And I think I found one.

  1. I have the keychron M3, comes here trying too find reason why I should get a Magic Mouse, ended up wanting to keep using my keychron 😅

  2. Sorry to complicate things for everyone – but I have both an Apple Magic Mouse (the final version with the lightning connector before they switched it to USB) and the Keychron K3 mini (although it’s the 4000hz, metal edition) and I have just tested the Apple Mouse’s bluetooth polling rate on the same website and it is reporting 260hz. I am using an Alienware 32" OLED, 240hz monitor, so the mouse polling rate may well be tied to screen refresh rate. The magic mouse feels wonderful to use. I also suggest that everyone investigate the Mac app "Multitouch" in order to activate tap-to-click functionality.

  3. I’ve been through a similar journey finding the perfect mouse for engineering and architecture work, especially since I spend a lot of time in AutoCAD. I started with the MX Master 3, but Bluetooth latency was abysmal and the scroll wheel didn’t work well for zooming in CAD. Tried the Razer Basilisk V3, but wanted a USB-C dongle. Then moved to the SteelSeries Aerox 5, but ran into issues with button mapping using SteerMouse. Finally landed on the Logitech G502X Lightspeed, which has been great for my main setup. I also picked up the M3 Mini as a portable option—love that it can connect via Bluetooth or USB-C, plus I keep the USB-A dongle at my desk for easy switching. Super happy with this combo so far!

  4. omg im embarassed to admit that i had no clue that clicking the wheel could open new tab / close tabs. i only knew it as the free scroll / movement button. thank you!!!!!

  5. What I miss the most on non Apple mouses (mice?), is the lack of left-right horizontal scrolling. Essential in timeline apps like After Effects, Premiere, Ableton Live, …I have the black Magic keyboard and mouse and while the mouse has its downsides, there has yet to be a combo half as good looking as this. Battery life of both is ridiculously good, monthly charge with daily use. Also, I’m broke.

  6. If someone else is buying? MX Anywhere 3S (super-portable).
    Otherwise, the Logitech M720.
(and yes, the MX Master 3S is totally overrated)

  7. Recent studies on mouse ergonomics suggest that scrolling back up to smash the like button increases wrist strength by 7.3% on average

  8. Awesome video, thx for this, i was looking for a bluetooth mouse.
You should do a video like this also for keyboards 😉

  9. i have used 2 mx masters (linux and mac) and two magic mice, mx master in my opinion is the clear winner and i still use to this day. i even play non fps and occasionally an fps on my mx master.

  10. Watched this video a month ago, bought two mice and came back to leave this comment.

MX Master 3S did not have connectivity problems for me. But the scroll well skips input when you scroll it fast and it really annoyed me. I found many people on forums complaining about it.

I then bought Keychron M2. God tier mouse. No software on both platforms, works flawlessly, its just a breeze to use, super light, battery life is really good. I love the physical controls instead of software. I don’t play video games much, but its also good to know that in case I will, I am all set for it too.

I did however like the fast scroll feature from the MX Master 3S, that I missed a little on the Keychron.

  11. For external mouse: try using “Mac Mouse Fix” software and prepare to be blown away, this software is life changing….

  12. I got a bunch of Mice and ended up at home with a Magic Trackpad for my MacBook (and also another for my iMac), on PC I use a Logitech G502 (old model), Microsoft Pro Intellimouse and sometimes my old MX Master.
Also had a Microsoft Wheelmouse Optical (still have it somewhere), Logitech Performance Mouse MX and Razer Ouroboros before that.
The low polling rate isn’t the only issue of the Magic Mouse, it also has a maximum resolution of roundabout 1300 dpi and that’s nothing these days, Logitech’s Pebble 2 and M500r have 4000, the G102 and G203 already 8000 and a lot even beyond 10000.
I don’t really need so much – just around 2000-2500 and zero acceleration what the Magic Mouse can’t provide.

My dream Mouse would be the Microsoft Classic Intellimouse with that Bluetrack Sensor (because it works on glass tables, also has up to 3200 dpi@1 kHz) and three connection modes: wired with a USB-C cable (of course it also has a USB-C port in the front), Bluetooth and some proprietary with USB-C dongle (don’t know if Logitech Bolt can do, Whitepaper says 133 Hz, but Lightspeed should do it properly) and one additional [gesture] button in the thumb area or the scroll wheel.
And that RGB light from the Pro Intellimouse that also acts as a status light like changing to red or flashing red when the battery is low and green when charging is finished.

  13. Finally someone that feels the same way I do about the MX Master 3/3s! I just ended up getting the G305… cheap $35 but it needs a dongle

  14. Hello, You probably have the windows version of the Logitech MX Masters 3s, which is why the mouse cursor teleports.
I saw that in 3:12 on the bottom of the mouse the text is just saying MX Masters 3S, even though if you want to use it for a Macbook it should say MX Masters 3S for Mac.
Windows and MacOS handle the Mouse input a little different which is why there is a special Mac version for this mouse.
The probably with the teleportation may be fixed if you buy the Mac version of this mouse. Just search for Logitech MX Masters 3S for Mac and it should come up.

  15. Have you Tried Razer Basilisk v3 pro which has 1000hz polling rate.. and unlike razer Viper series(Gaming series) it has a great Bluetooth Connection… and if you are not conviced with 1000hz theres a Dongle (Hyperpolling dongel by razer) which makes your mouse go up to 8000hz?? (8000hz can work with razer Viper series.. bassilisk Series and Deathadder series)Thank me later

And it has the best scrolling Wheel in the market(Features wise and Feel wise)

  16. Got this mouse and it was my worst experience on macOS. The mouse feels floaty and imprecise ( with mouse acceleration off ). Tried all the app that offer smooth scrolling and they all have fallen short of the Magic Mouse smooth scrolling. Mac Studio 5k and m1max (macOS Sonoma). On windows this mouse works fine. The feeling is a bit meh, feels cheap.

  17. I’m using the magic mouse with my studio display and have the tracking speed set too fast and it still doesn’t seem fast enough. I keep finding myself wanting to pick up the mouse. I love the gestures but find the Magic Mouse too flat. Should I give the MX 3S a try?

  18. I’m also a Master 3S user with absolutely no lagging issues whatsoever. In the past I had lagging issues with this mouse but only when using Logitech’s own dongle. The reason seems to be the 2.4 GHz frequency which somehow is making trouble when using the Logitech connector directly on the USB port. After using a cable to get away from the port these issues were gone. But since I’m also using a Mac, I’m switching between a MacBook Pro M2 and a Mac Studio M1, I never had any of the teleporting stuff going on. Maybe you had a faulty unit or so?

  19. FYI: Mouse acceleration can easily be disabled with the free and open source LinearMouse app that runs in the system tray.

  20. idk if i’ll buy the keychron m3 but what truly i got from this video is that the middle button hack. a sub and a thumbs up for that.

  21. Can totally relate with your MX3 disappointment.. its getting dirty so fast and the rubber tears off after lot of cleaning.. and worst of all.. suuuuper laggy.
